Ingredients:
- 1 cup dried figs (anjeer), chopped
- 1 cup khoya (reduced milk solids)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- A pinch of saffron strands (optional)
- Ghee (clarified butter) for greasing
Instructions:
Prepare Figs:- Soak the chopped dried figs in warm water for about 1-2 hours until they become soft. Drain excess water.
- Blend the soaked figs into a smooth paste using a food processor or blender.
- In a pan, crumble and cook the khoya on low heat until it becomes slightly brown and releases ghee.
- Add the fig paste to the khoya and cook, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens.
- Add powdered sugar, cardamom powder, and chopped nuts. Mix well.
- Continue cooking the mixture on low heat until it thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.
- Grease a tray with ghee and transfer the mixture into it. Flatten it evenly using a spatula.
- Allow it to cool, and once it’s set, cut it into desired shapes (squares or diamonds).
- Garnish with saffron strands or chopped nuts if desired.
